Haverhill High School had a great art program and I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art in 1995 with a BFA in illustration. My family was very supportive of my childhood dream of being an illustrator, luckily.Ī lot of families aren’t. Seeing artwork on all kinds of things like t-shirts, album covers, comic books, kids’ books, toy packages, you name it, I understood “Somebody drew this, they got paid for this, that’s like the best life!” I liked running around and playing basketball and Little League and stuff, but making pictures was always my favorite thing to do. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be an illustrator for a career. I think my love for New England, Fall, Halloween, and creepy things started coming through in my pictures right from the start. My big influences as a kid were Spider-man and Batman comics, anime like Gaiking and Starblazers, watching Saturday afternoon Creature Double Feature, reading John Bellairs novels and Stephen King, getting really into 70s-80s metal like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and Metallica. I was born in Haverhill in 1973 and began drawing and painting very early on. Mister, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far. Today we’d like to introduce you to Mister Reusch.
